Amy and the bets

This is my best friend Amy! After telling Amy about this blog I decided that the best thing to do would be to involve her in it by pestering her about doing a mini interview! So, as this is a beauty blog I thought it most fitting to ask her beauty related questions - as you do. So, here it goes!

(To give a bit of a background, Amy generally likes to have a natural make-up look often with just a touch of concealer and mascara - and she looks fantastic like this - grrr.)

Moi : So Amy, lets begin with your make-up bag. What are your make-up essentials?
Amy: Well, I never leave the house without Benefit Erase paste on , its got great coverage - and gets rid of any spots and redness on my face, so that is always close to hand![I should add now, that Amy is a Benefit addict, I believe she is a sucker for the packaging as we all are, its so dang pretty!]

Another product I have recently fallen in love with is Benefit's Stay dont stray primer - in my opinion it is miles better than my previous too faced shadow insurance. I use this to prime my concealer as well as eyeshadow. I use it under my eyes as it gives a good brightening effect - even before concealer!

The powder and blush I use are both from Lily Lolo - these were bought locally, so Im not too sure of availability elsewhere - however if you find them, I highly recommend them!

I also carry Benefits Benetint (the original red one) as i like to use a touch of this as a blush, and also as a lipstain ( I would generally add a clear gloss on top if I use it on my lips as it is a touch drying) I like how you can control the intensity of it by how  much or little you apply.

Finally I have a too faced glamour to go kit which I use just for the eyeshadows - particularly the bronze and purple. (Sorry folks I checked, they don't have names :( boo )

Moi: So, how about perfume, what are you favourites for day and night?

Amy: Well i tend to stick to one perfume for a few months then mix it up a bit, so at the moment it is DKNY Be Delicious - Green. This is so fruity and perfect for summer, and also perfect to brighten up winter days! My all time favourite perfume would have to be Hugo Boss Intense though - I use this from day through to night - but unfortunately I don't have any just now. (I swear I saw Amy look at me with puppy dog eyes at this point...) In terms of night time perfumes, the one i'm currently using is FCUK's Connect.

CUE STORY

A month or so ago, I was at Amy's house, I sat, as I tend to do on the floor, however on this fateful day I sat in front of her bookcase - which on the top shelf is where she keeps all her perfumes (On this occasion very messily! As in, they weren't standing up right, as in they were balancing!). Now, for those of you who don't know what FCUK Connect looks like - let me insert a picture.
Yes, that is metal around it, and yes she has the biggest bottle...
So as I was sitting innocently I got the fright of my life as a shower of perfume bottles and lotions fell on me, this bad boy managing to hit me right in the head! I cried. Alot. I also got a bump. A big bump.
For this reason, I hate this perfume, I hate it more than any other.

On that note we end our interview, Thankyou Amy for letting us delve into your make-up and perfume world! I for one am very grateful!

P.s. Remeber Amy's name, she is currently writing a book, remember where you knew her first!

Shiny Happy new stuff!

So, a few days ago, a Monday in fact,I  found myself lucky enough to be off work, but unlucky enough to be off work alone. It was the day my best friend went to visit her sister in England, my other best friend lives 2 hours away -which is no use,  and my other also very good friend was moving house, and of-course it was a Monday, so the majority of my phone book were working. This unfortunately equalled a lonely me. Which in turn meant a self pitying me. So, I thought to myself in a forceful and unfriendly manner, "what are you going to do today?! " "Well..." I answered " Im going to go shopping!".
Yes, I went shopping - alone. I won't lie, I quite enjoyed this experience of "flying solo". The only set back to my adventure was a limited supply of petrol, so instead of going to my main shopping town I went to a much smaller, much closer town.
"So get on with it, what did you buy?!" I here you ask.
Well. Firstly, I bought what is positively my favourite hand cream. Soap and Glory Hand Food. In the smell Marshmallow... yes, marshmallow!mmmmmm! For your viewing pleasure I will now insert a picture of said hand cream, and marshmallows for comparison.

This hand cream is the most effective I have ever used, it leaves my hands soft and smelling, well, edible, for a relatively long time! (Bought from boots from about £2.25 I think!)

next on my shopping list was loreal telescopic mascara. I had heard great reviews of this on make up videos, but sadly I was dissapointed. In its defence it is fantastic at lengthening, which i do want and enjoy, but I also feel that I need some volume too, but unfortunately this offered me none, it is perhaps because i bought the  clean definition version... but anyway, it has not gone to waste, I have been using it over my holy grail buxom lash to add length.

So, while I was at the loreal section of boots I noticed Cheryl Cole (or do we say Tweedy now?) looking back at me. She was telling me to buy one more product so that I could have her free box of make-up and such. Ofcourse, if Cheryl Cole asks you to do something, (especially if free make-up is in the equation) I say, do it! So I quickly found something that would fit the bill nicely. A loreal trio of grey, silver and black eyeshadow. Now I am normally a bronze and gold eyeshadow girl, but recently I have been tempted with these cooler colours. So I purchased it, and was pleasently surprised, it is very nice quality with a nice texture that isn't too chalky - I hate that!

In terms of the free gift I was pleased with its contents. It gave me three full sized products. A light gold, shimmer eyeshadow, a brown kohl pencil, a gold nailpolish, then a little pot of face cream, and a sachet of there matte mousse foundation - in a medium colour which is too dark for my near translucent skin.Hmph.

So in all, I was a happy customer with my baby shopping spree, and all for around £20. Not bad says I, not bad at all!

routines routines routines

So here is yet another post today. As i'm sure you can notice I am trying to bulk this blog out!
So I thought I would write what make-up I have been putting on as my general every day make-up routine.

To start off - At the moment I have been using beauty flash balm from Clarins to begin (as inspired by beauty mecca's blog) Now, I love this, but I have to admit I think i am using it wrong! Ive been putting it on everyday which I think is too much for two reasons.
1. I believe this isn't an everyday moisturiser, and that makes me think it wont be as appreciated when I actually need it.
2. It costs a bloody fortune! Therefore using it every day will dramatically limit how long this will be in my possession!

Anywho, so as i said, i begin with beauty flash balm. I then put on neutrogena healthy skin foundation in classic ivory.  Unfortunately I dont believe you can buy this in the UK, I found it on a trip to New York (best week of my life!) and decided to stock up with a couple of bottles! This foundation is great for my skin, it leaves a nice glowy finish with a medium coverage.Perfect.

After this i apply a wee bit of mac strobe cream to my cheekbones. This is sooooo good!!

Then it is the turn of MAC's peaches blush. Oh. My. Goodness. This is the blush of all blush. The creme de la creme. You would think that it is just a plain flat peach blush, but no. It gives pale girls the perfect peaches and cream look, and darker girls that gorgeous peach "pop" ( i hate using that to describe make up, but hey, its true) to the cheeks.

I fill in my brows with just a rimmel pencil, then put on urban decays primer potion in sin - not in preparation for eye shadow, more so just to keep from my eyeliner smudging, I then use blacktrack fluidline on my top lashes in a flicky shape in an attempt to make my almond eyes look a smidgen bigger! To top all this off I put on lashings of bare esentuals buxom lash and some clear or pinky lipstick or lipgloss - which at the moment is Lancomes marshmallow juicy tube - yum.

This is my basic make up routine for days when i have work or am not doing anything special. I will save a more elaborate routine for another day me thinks!

Jean Paul Gaultier Classique =YUM!

Jean Paul gaultier classique is possibly the nicest and most grown up perfume in my posession. I first came across this when a girl I was friendly with in school wore it all the time. Now, in my opinion this was wasted on her. She was simply too young to appreciate it, and she "scooshed" it about 8 times with every application *this saddens me* - this also meant that you ALWAYS smelled her before you saw her. I on the other hand have learned to treasure it and have grown to understand that every "scoosh" (there really isn't a better word is there?) of this *liquid gold* should be savoured.

So, now that we have my feelings on this product made clear I will give those of you who have yet to have the fortune of smelling it a little taster of what it is like. Now, to give the official "high notes, medium notes,  wee notes..." and whatever other notes we are supposed to smell in this... here they are ;"Orange Flower, Bulgarian Rose, Italian Mandarin, Star Aniseed, Orchid, Iris, Ylang-Ylang, Indian Ginger, Soft Vanilla, Woody Amber"

However, if you are at all like myself, this means... well, not a lot, as more often that not these smells are no where to be seen...or sniffed. So in my own words what you are smelling is a very warm vanilla-ey, flowery, and bubble bath-y (in my opinion - I of course always suggest giving it a whiff yourself) smell which warms up on your skin, and i often think this smells different on different people. At first it gives off quite an alcohol-ey smell but within 15 minutes it is beautiful! I often put it on before a shower as by the time I come out it is more of a lingering soft smell, which is just enough to remind you its there... which is how I like it!

So be sure to have a wee test of this next time your in debenhams... or wherever you may go! I promise it is well worth it!

A new day a new beauty blog

So today is the day I have decided to finally make a blog! It has been (at least) a year since I have been ritually reading other peoples beauty and fashion blogs and been in awe of them. For some reason it had never occurred to me to make my own. In having a room full of beauty products and make up which I have collected over the years I feel I have a good starting point to begin reviewing make up/ perfumes/ and all other lotions and potions which are of interest to the beauty obsessed community! So keep posted for a follow up of bloggy posts! The first of which will be coming to you... in about... 15 minutes?

To brighten this up, here is a nice picture I found for you to look at :) If you're anything like me, you will be scanning this picture seeing if you own any of it too! ( I feel I should mention - unfortunately this is not my loot :( )
